Polar FT4

Today I finally got a heart rate monitor that I might actually like! After reading reviews for endless hours, visiting Academy at least a dozen times and exchanging a Mio watch, I’ve found one.

I didn’t need anything complicated. I don’t run, I don’t do marathons, I don’t do triathlons, I just lift weights! All I wanted was a simple watch that gave me the time and my heart rate. The Mio Petite - no way. Right out of the box I could already tell it was too complicated. The selling point of that watch was that it was a strapless monitor, bingo! ummm… not so much. It sucked. The buttons were too hard to push, it never read my heart rate and I never figured out how to use the freakin stopwatch. Not worth it.

I was hesitant to buy a Polar because of the price but as I get older, I realize more and more why things cost more…. because they actually work! So this afternoon (ironically, after my workout) I picked up the Polar Ft4. AAAAAAHHH!! yes! I strapped it on, put the strap on and I was in business. My heart rate is ~61, and I burned 123 calories cooking my food for the week. Instantly I had all of the settings set and didn’t even have to look at the manual to find the “OK” key. So far, so good.
